FAT VS. SKINNY

The following question came to me in my personal email and I thought it was so thought provoking and common, especially in light of this new Christian wellness / fitness  “freedom” thing that I believe God is doing when it comes to the self-absorbed traps of health and fitness, I just had to share.

QUESTION:

I need some advice, please. I have the want to workout and cut back on excessive chips and sweets. Although their is this voice that tells me I’m not fat and I shouldn’t because I could become too skinny and that is wrong. What do you suggest?

MY RESPONSE:

How do you feel? If you are feeling accused and anxious, like you HAVE to lose some weight, then that is not the voice of God encouraging you to workout and cut back. That’s the enemy’s voice, and the Lord’s voice is in the “careful of becoming too skinny”.

If you are feeling a good desire to take care of yourself, regain some energy that you have lost by increasing the quality of food going in and engaging and retaining your muscles in movement going out, then THAT IS the voice of God, and the enemy is the one accusing you of becoming too skinny.

I hope that helps. We all fall prey to the trap. The KEY is knowing the love of God to know the voice of God. All other voices need to submit to that one voice. In the name of Jesus, those voices must shut up and be bound up. Allow me to encourage you to take a firm stance of authority over your mind and your motives by speaking out “In the name of Jesus, I command all voices or motives that are not of the Lord’s to leave me, now.” And then speak out some of God’s word over you..OUT LOUD..use your mouth kind of speaking…then in the quiet that follows see what God is really asking of you.

Never forget:

  • There is power in the name of Jesus – “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” John 14:14
  • YOU have been given the mind of Christ, a sound mind – “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:16 and “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (I went old-school on that one. That is from the NKJV.)

I hope that helps.

I encouraged this person to sign up for our FREE 7 Steps To the Best You to get a taste of freedom. And to go even deeper, consider journeying through our Weigh Less to Feed More At Home Program. I’m serious about this freedom bell that I hear God ringing. Can you hear it?

So,let me know what you think. Comment below and share.I know you hear from God too on things of this matter. It doesn’t even have to be about food or exercise (because it’s never really about the food or the exercise). It could be about spending and saving your money, holding or speaking your truth, or giving and receiving forgiveness. How do you contend with confusion?
